Who carries Deseret Value

Deseret Value is one of the medical plan options administered by Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators for employees of Church-affiliated employers.

Members on value-tier plans usually carry a higher deductible in exchange for a lower premium, which makes the cost of a specialty work-up worth knowing in advance. We will give you an estimate before your first visit rather than leaving it to the statement.

For a general overview of DMBA coverage, see our Deseret Mutual page.

Common Questions

Deseret Value questions we get

I have a high deductible. What will an allergy work-up actually cost?

Ask us and we will tell you. A first visit typically includes the consultation and, if it is appropriate that day, skin testing. We can quote each piece so you can decide what to do and when.

Can I use an HSA or FSA for allergy care?

Allergy testing, immunotherapy, and prescribed medications are generally eligible medical expenses. Your plan administrator can confirm what applies to your account.

Is it cheaper to do allergy shots than to stay on medication?

Over a three to five year course it often is, because immunotherapy treats the underlying sensitivity rather than the symptoms. We will go through the arithmetic for your situation honestly, including the cases where it does not pencil out.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Before you start immunotherapy: we recommend calling your plan to verify benefits for allergy extract preparation (CPT 95165) and injections (CPT 95115 / 95117). Our staff is happy to walk you through it โ€” call 801-965-3550.

Ready to stop guessing what you're allergic to?
